Ground cycles are similar to the motorcycles of modern-day Earth but use a parabattery-powered electric motor in place of an internal combustion engine. They are fast and very maneuverable. Just as modern motorcycles, many can carry a passenger right behind the driver.[1]
Most ground cycles are sold "stock", without extras; however, owners tend to customize them with custom paint jobs and aftermarket custom kits.
Altering a ground cycle for combat is unusual (and highly illegal) on most settled worlds without proper permits. Armed ground cycles are used as scouts for patrol groups, and by some of the more aggressive cycle gangs in unsettled areas.
A ground cycle can mount a small or medium vehicular turret, but unlike other vehicles, turrets mounted on a cycle must be installed as a side-car. An armed ground cycle can be fitted with up to 3 coats of non-concealable armor and up to 2 slots for vehicle-mounted weapons. Each coat costs 1500 credits (this includes reflective coating). Ground cycles are too small to mount vehicular screens - personal screens are used instead.
